Please note that our ELISA and CLIA kits are optimised for detection of native samples, rather than recombinant proteins. We are unable to guarantee detection of recombinant proteins, as they may have different sequences or tertiary structures to the native protein. |
Descripción
Taste Receptor Type 2 Member 119 (TAS2R119) is a critical part of the TAS2R family involved in bitter taste perception, primarily located on the tongue within the taste buds. This receptor is specialized in recognizing certain bitter compounds, triggering a signaling pathway through G-protein activation. This pathway leads to the release of calcium ions within the cell, which subsequently signals the brain to perceive a bitter taste. TAS2R119's role extends beyond the oral cavity, being expressed in tissues such as the gastrointestinal tract and respiratory system. Here, it may play a role in immune defense by detecting bitter microbial products and contributing to antimicrobial responses. Variants of the TAS2R119 gene are known to influence individual differences in sensitivity to bitter tastes, potentially affecting dietary preferences and health-related behaviors.
