This product is for research use only. The range and sensitivity is subject to change. Please contact us for the latest product information. For accurate results, sample concentrations must be diluted to mid-range of the kit. If you require a specific range, please contact us in advance or write your request in your order comments. Please note that our ELISA and CLIA kits are optimised for detection of native samples, rather than recombinant proteins. We are unable to guarantee detection of recombinant proteins, as they may have different sequences or tertiary structures to the native protein.

Descripción

Taste Receptor Type 2 Member 103 (TAS2R103) is a G-protein-coupled receptor involved in the detection of bitter substances. Found in taste receptor cells within taste buds, TAS2R103 functions as a sentinel for potentially harmful compounds in the diet. Emerging evidence suggests TAS2R103 is expressed in non-gustatory tissues, such as the airway and gut, where it participates in broader chemosensory mechanisms, including regulation of smooth muscle contraction and secretion of antimicrobial peptides. Variations in TAS2R103 gene expression and function may explain individual differences in bitter taste sensitivity and susceptibility to respiratory infections, as activation of TAS2R103 in the respiratory system is linked to enhanced mucociliary clearance.
