Descripción
SERPINB7 is a member of the serpin (serine protease inhibitor) superfamily, which is a diverse group of proteins that play critical roles in regulating protease activity across various biological processes. The SERPINB7 gene is located on chromosome 18q21.3 and encodes a protein that is primarily involved in inhibiting serine proteases within the cell. This intracellular serpin is distinct in its functional roles compared to extracellular serpins that primarily function in the bloodstream or extracellular matrix. SERPINB7 has garnered attention due to its involvement in several pathological conditions, including certain skin diseases and nephrotic syndromes. Its expression is particularly noted in the kidney and skin, suggesting specialized roles in these tissues
