RAB15, member RAS oncogene family (RAB15) is a member of the RAB family of small GTPases that regulate intracellular vesicular trafficking RAB15 has been shown to participate in processes related to vesicle recycling, especially in the transport and sorting of proteins and lipids within cells This protein plays a role in maintaining cellular homeostasis by ensuring the efficient movement of internalized material from early endosomes to the recycling pathway It is involved in regulating the distribution of cell surface receptors and maintaining proper receptor levels, which are important for signaling pathways related to growth, differentiation, and immune response RAB15 also impacts the trafficking of synaptic vesicles, contributing to neurotransmitter release and the proper functioning of synapses in neurons Dysregulation in RAB15’s activity has been linked to cellular dysfunction in diseases such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders, where impaired vesicular trafficking contributes to tumor progression, synaptic failure, and the accumulation of cellular debris
