Descripción
Linker for activation of T-cells family member 2 (LAT2), also known as NTAL (Non-T cell Activation Linker), is an adaptor protein expressed in various immune cells, including B cells, mast cells, and NK cells. LAT2 functions analogously to LAT by facilitating signal transduction from immunoreceptors, such as the B-cell receptor (BCR) and Fc receptors, to downstream signaling cascades. Upon receptor engagement, LAT2 undergoes tyrosine phosphorylation, enabling it to recruit signaling molecules, such as Grb2 and PLCγ, which are essential for calcium mobilization and activation of the MAPK pathway. LAT2 plays a crucial role in immune responses, particularly in B-cell activation, mast cell degranulation, and cytokine production. Unlike LAT, LAT2 exhibits a broader expression pattern and participates in both adaptive and innate immunity. Its dysregulation has been implicated in allergic reactions and immune cell hyperactivity, making it a potential therapeutic target in allergic and inflammatory diseases.
