LRRC9 is a protein associated with cellular signaling and structural organization studies suggest it is expressed in neuronal and epithelial tissues where it contributes to cell adhesion and intracellular signaling processes its leucine-rich repeat domains are likely involved in mediating protein-protein interactions particularly in pathways that regulate cytoskeletal organization and cell polarity bioinformatics data link LRRC9 to neurodevelopmental processes and synaptic organization suggesting potential roles in maintaining neuronal connectivity and plasticity dysregulation or mutations in LRRC9 have been associated with neurological disorders such as autism spectrum disorders and neurodegenerative conditions further research is exploring its functional interactions and therapeutic potential in neurological and epithelial disorders ongoing studies are also investigating its role in epithelial integrity and tissue repair mechanisms
