LRRC24 is a protein associated with extracellular matrix (ECM) interactions and cellular signaling predominantly expressed in stromal and connective tissues studies suggest it plays a role in modulating cellular adhesion migration and ECM remodeling particularly during tissue repair and fibrotic processes its expression is upregulated in response to mechanical stress and injury where it contributes to tissue regeneration by influencing fibroblast activity and collagen deposition LRRC24 has also been implicated in the progression of fibrotic diseases such as systemic sclerosis and liver fibrosis where its dysregulation promotes excessive ECM accumulation bioinformatics predictions associate LRRC24 with integrin and focal adhesion signaling pathways suggesting its involvement in mechanotransduction processes it may also participate in the tumor microenvironment by influencing cancer-associated fibroblast activity and ECM stiffness although its specific molecular interactions remain poorly understood ongoing research focuses on its potential as a biomarker and therapeutic target in fibrosis and cancer-associated stromal biology
