LRRC23 is a poorly characterized member of the LRRC family expressed in a range of tissues with higher prevalence in reproductive and neuronal systems bioinformatics analyses suggest its potential involvement in processes related to cellular adhesion and signal transduction particularly in cell types undergoing structural remodeling or differentiation LRRC23 has been linked to the regulation of synaptic organization and neural signaling pathways although direct experimental evidence is sparse studies propose its role in maintaining the structural integrity of synaptic connections and influencing neuronal plasticity genetic data suggest potential associations with neurodevelopmental disorders where dysregulated expression of LRRC23 could impact cognitive and behavioral outcomes its role in reproductive biology has also been suggested as it may influence gametogenesis and cellular interactions in reproductive tissues further investigation is needed to elucidate its exact molecular functions and explore its relevance in neurological and reproductive health
