Background

ABI2, like ABI1, is a multifunctional adaptor protein involved in regulating actin dynamics, signal transduction, and various cellular functions. ABL Interactor 2, is a cytoplasmic protein that shares structural similarities with ABI1. It contains functional domains including a proline-rich region, a Src homology 3 (SH3) domain, a Src homology 2 (SH2) domain, and a C-terminal domain. These domains enable ABI2 to interact with various binding partners and participate in diverse cellular processes. Similar to ABI1, ABI2 is involved in the regulation of actin cytoskeleton dynamics. It interacts with actin-binding proteins and signaling molecules to modulate actin polymerization, cell migration, adhesion, and morphogenesis.
