Descripción
MRGPRX3 is a member of the MAS-related GPR family of receptors, similar in structure and function to MRGPRX1 and MRGPRX2. It is expressed in sensory neurons and mast cells, playing a role in the mediation of allergic responses and pain. MRGPRX3 is activated by various endogenous peptides and is involved in the release of histamine and other mediators from mast cells, contributing to allergic inflammation. It is particularly involved in the sensation of itch and may also play a role in modulating pain sensitivity and neurogenic inflammation. The receptor’s activation leads to the initiation of intracellular signaling cascades that include calcium release and other pro-inflammatory responses. Dysregulation of MRGPRX3 signaling is linked to disorders involving chronic pain, itch, and hypersensitivity. As a potential therapeutic target, MRGPRX3 could be modulated for the treatment of chronic pain conditions, allergic disorders, and inflammatory diseases.
