Descripción

LILRB3 (Leukocyte Immunoglobulin-Like Receptor B3) is a member of the leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor (LILR) family, a group of receptors involved in regulating the immune response. LILRB3, also known as CD85A or ILT5 (Immunoglobulin-like Transcript 5), is predominantly expressed on myeloid cells, including monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, and dendritic cells. These receptors play a crucial role in immune regulation by mediating inhibitory signals that prevent excessive activation of the immune system, contributing to the maintenance of immune homeostasis. LILRB3 belongs to the inhibitory subfamily of LILR receptors, which means it primarily dampens immune responses. It achieves this through the recruitment of tyrosine phosphatases, which inhibit activating signaling pathways, thereby reducing inflammatory responses and promoting immune tolerance. This regulation is important for preventing autoimmune reactions and minimizing tissue damage during inflammatory processes.
