Description
LRRC61 contains two Leucine-rich repeat; these are short sequence motifs present in a number of proteins with diverse functions and cellular locations. These repeats are usually involved in protein-protein interactions. Each Leucine Rich Repeat is composed of a beta-alpha unit. These units form elongated non-globular structures. Leucine Rich Repeats are often flanked by cysteine rich domains.

LRRC61 is a poorly characterized protein with suggested roles in cellular adhesion and signaling processes bioinformatics analyses indicate its involvement in extracellular matrix interactions and regulation of cytoskeletal organization its expression is observed in tissues undergoing active remodeling such as during embryonic development and wound healing LRRC61 may play a role in cell migration and tissue repair processes by modulating integrin signaling pathways and interactions with actin-binding proteins while its direct molecular functions remain largely unexplored LRRC61 has been implicated in cancer biology where its dysregulation may enhance tumor invasiveness and metastasis further research is required to characterize its functional interactions and explore its potential as a biomarker or therapeutic target in cancer and regenerative medicine
