Descripción
LRRC33 is a membrane protein expressed on macrophages and microglia with roles in modulating immune responses and inflammation similar to LRRC32 it functions as a receptor for latent TGF-β and is critical for regulating TGF-β activation on myeloid cells studies have shown that LRRC33 is essential for maintaining tissue homeostasis by controlling macrophage polarization and anti-inflammatory signaling its expression is upregulated during inflammatory responses where it helps balance pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory pathways dysregulation of LRRC33 is associated with chronic inflammatory diseases such as arthritis and neurodegenerative conditions including Alzheimer’s disease where microglial function is impaired further research is exploring its role in immune regulation and its therapeutic potential in inflammatory and neurodegenerative disorders
