Descripción

LRRC15 is a collagen-binding protein with a significant role in regulating extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling and cell-matrix interactions it is widely expressed in stromal cells and tumor-associated fibroblasts where it participates in modulating cell adhesion and migration particularly in cancer and wound healing contexts LRRC15 has been identified as a critical component of the tumor microenvironment facilitating tumor progression and metastasis by influencing ECM organization and stiffness it is also involved in immune modulation through its interactions with immune cell receptors recent studies indicate its expression is upregulated in fibrotic diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and systemic sclerosis implicating it in pathological ECM deposition and remodeling LRRC15's potential as a therapeutic target is being explored particularly in oncology where its expression correlates with resistance to immune checkpoint inhibitors and poor prognosis in several cancers ongoing research aims to clarify its regulatory mechanisms in ECM biology and its cross-talk with other signaling pathways driving tissue repair and fibrosis
