Descripción

Leptin ( LEP) is an adipokine predominantly produced by adipocytes that plays a key role in regulating energy balance, appetite, and metabolism by acting on the hypothalamus Leptin signals through its receptor (LEPR) to suppress food intake and promote energy expenditure, maintaining body weight homeostasis Circulating leptin levels are proportional to fat mass, with increased levels observed in obesity due to leptin resistance Dysregulation of leptin signaling is associated with metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases Leptin also exerts immunomodulatory functions, influencing the activity of T cells, macrophages, and other immune cells to enhance pro-inflammatory responses It is implicated in autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, where elevated leptin promotes chronic inflammation Leptin’s role extends to bone metabolism, reproductive function, and wound healing, highlighting its pleiotropic effects in energy homeostasis and systemic physiology

human Leptin Elisa

The ELISA E07 is intended to be used for quantitative measurement of human Leptin in human serum and plasma samples. This enzyme immunoassay kit is suited for measuring human leptin in serum or plasma, and conditioned adipocyte culture media for scientific and diagnostic purposes. Measuring leptin in anorectic or cachectic patients, young children or in specimen other than serum, such as urine, cerebrospinal fluid, and certain cell culture media, is also possible with this kit.

Leptin Sensitive ELISA

This immunoassay kit enables measurement of human leptin in serum or plasma for diagnostic purposes. The test kit is also suitable for measuring exceptionally low concentrations of leptin, for example in samples from patients with anorexia or cachexia and from children. For the standard application of measurement in serum or plasma samples from individuals with normal weight (expected levels between 1 and 100 ng/mL leptin), we recommend our Leptin ELISA product number E07.
