Background

CXCR2 is a G protein-coupled receptor that binds IL-8 and other CXC chemokines like Groα, Groβ, and NAP-2. CXCR2 is critical for immune surveillance and inflammation but also contributes to diseases like COPD, asthma, and rheumatoid arthritis due to excessive neutrophil infiltration. In cancer, CXCR2 promotes tumor progression, angiogenesis, and metastasis by recruiting myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) and endothelial cells to the tumor microenvironment, enhancing immunosuppression and vascularization. CXCR2 inhibition reduces tumor growth and inflammation, highlighting its therapeutic potential.
