Descripción

ISLR, also known as matrilin-4-related protein, is a secreted protein that belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and features leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domains. It is widely expressed in mesenchymal tissues, including those involved in the extracellular matrix (ECM) and connective tissue remodeling. ISLR plays a role in regulating cell adhesion, tissue repair, and fibroblast activation. ISLR is critical for maintaining the structural integrity of the ECM and facilitating tissue remodeling during processes such as wound healing and organ fibrosis. It interacts with integrins and other ECM components to modulate cellular signaling and promote mesenchymal cell differentiation. Dysregulation of ISLR has been implicated in fibrotic diseases, tumor progression, and metastasis, where it influences ECM dynamics and cell migration.
