Descripción
VSIG8 is a member of the immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily, which encompasses proteins involved in cell adhesion and immune system regulation. It is a transmembrane protein predominantly expressed in specific immune-related tissues and epithelial cells. The structure of VSIG8 includes Ig-like domains, which are critical for mediating protein-protein interactions. Although its precise biological functions remain under exploration, studies suggest that VSIG8 may play a role in modulating immune responses, particularly in maintaining epithelial integrity and signaling in immune environments. Aberrant expression of VSIG8 has been implicated in autoimmune diseases and inflammatory conditions, highlighting its significance in immune homeostasis.
