Descripción
Testis specific protein Y-linked 4 (TSPY4) is a member of the TSPY gene family, which is primarily expressed in the testis and plays a role in regulating spermatogenesis and male fertility TSPY4 contributes to the maintenance of spermatogonial stem cells, which are essential for the continuous production of sperm throughout a male's life It is involved in regulating the differentiation and proliferation of germ cells, ensuring that sperm production remains stable and efficient under various physiological conditions The protein is thought to interact with other molecular pathways that control cell cycle progression and apoptosis, which helps to ensure that only healthy, fully differentiated sperm are produced Dysregulation of TSPY4 expression has been linked to fertility issues and testicular disorders, including testicular cancer, where it may contribute to tumor formation by promoting uncontrolled cell proliferation and survival In addition to its role in male reproductive health, TSPY4’s involvement in regulating germ cell development highlights its potential as a diagnostic and therapeutic target for reproductive system diseases and cancers
