Background

SWAP70 is a nuclear and cytoplasmic adaptor protein involved in actin cytoskeleton remodeling, signal transduction, and B-cell activation. It functions as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for Rac1, facilitating actin polymerization and cell shape changes during processes such as immune cell migration, phagocytosis, and endocytosis. SWAP70 plays a critical role in B-cell development, class switch recombination (CSR), and antigen receptor signaling, linking extracellular signals to cytoskeletal rearrangement and nuclear responses. It is expressed in hematopoietic cells, epithelial tissues, and immune cells, where it coordinates cell migration, adhesion, and immune responses.
