Descripción
Striatin-4 (STRN4), also called zinedin, is a scaffolding protein within the striatin family and a core component of the STRIPAK complex, where it regulates PP2A-dependent dephosphorylation and kinase signaling pathways. STRN4 is broadly expressed in tissues, including the brain, heart, and vascular endothelial cells, where it contributes to calcium-calmodulin signaling, cytoskeletal organization, and cell signaling networks. It interacts with proteins involved in cell migration, vesicular trafficking, and angiogenesis, playing a key role in endothelial cell communication and vascular homeostasis. STRN4 is also implicated in neuronal development and synaptic function, modulating calcium signaling and cytoskeletal remodeling. Dysregulation of STRN4 contributes to cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodevelopmental disorders, where its altered activity disrupts cellular signaling and homeostasis. Knockdown studies show impaired cell migration, reduced PP2A activity, and defective cytoskeletal integrity, highlighting its role in coordinating cell signaling, structural organization, and physiological processes.
