Background

SOCS4 is a member of the SOCS protein family that regulates cytokine signaling by inhibiting the Janus kinase (JAK)/STAT pathway and promoting the proteasomal degradation of signaling intermediates via its SOCS box domain. It interacts with phosphorylated cytokine receptors and downstream proteins to suppress excessive cytokine responses, particularly in pathways related to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and interleukin-4 (IL-4).
