ROBO1 (Roundabout Guidance Receptor 1) is a key transmembrane protein implicated in axon guidance during neural development, where it functions as a receptor for Slit family proteins. Through its interaction with Slit ligands, ROBO1 mediates axonal repulsion, which is critical for establishing neural circuits and ensuring proper brain organization.
