RAB17, member RAS oncogene family (RAB17) is involved in regulating vesicle trafficking between various cellular compartments, including the Golgi apparatus, endosomes, and the plasma membrane RAB17 is important for maintaining the recycling of membrane proteins and internalized receptors, ensuring proper cellular signaling and the recycling of molecules involved in cell surface receptor activity It has been implicated in controlling membrane dynamics, particularly in processes related to vesicle formation, membrane fusion, and cell polarity RAB17 also plays a role in regulating actin dynamics, which is essential for cell motility and tissue remodeling, particularly in epithelial cells where proper adhesion and junction formation are critical Its dysfunction is linked to a variety of diseases, including cancer, where dysregulated vesicular trafficking may promote metastasis by enhancing cell migration and altering receptor activity Additionally, RAB17 is involved in the immune response by regulating the trafficking of immune receptors, impacting inflammation and cell communication during immune activation
