Descripción
ACTL10 is a member of the actin-like protein family, which plays crucial roles in cytoskeletal organization. It is classified as a non-muscle actin-like protein and is primarily expressed in testicular tissues. ACTL10 has a structural similarity to actin, featuring a conserved actin-fold domain that binds ATP/ADP. Unlike canonical actin isoforms, ACTL10 does not participate in dynamic filament polymerization but is believed to have specialized roles in germ cell development and sperm motility. Its expression is tightly regulated during spermatogenesis, suggesting a role in cytoskeletal rearrangement during meiosis. Dysregulation of ACTL10 may contribute to fertility issues.
