LRRC37A5P is a pseudogene within the LRRC37 gene family located in a genomic region prone to rearrangements associated with neurological and psychiatric disorders as a pseudogene it does not encode a functional protein but may have regulatory roles through noncoding RNA transcripts studies suggest that pseudogenes like LRRC37A5P can modulate gene expression by acting as decoys for microRNAs or by influencing the stability of related mRNA transcripts its genomic location near genes associated with neurological functions such as Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1A (CMT1A) and autism spectrum disorders suggests a potential role in disease susceptibility and genomic regulation further investigation is needed to clarify its regulatory functions and potential impact on gene expression in neurological and psychiatric conditions
