Nucleosome Assembly Protein 1 Like 6, Pseudogene (NAP1L6P) is a non-coding pseudogene belonging to the NAP family, which is involved in histone chaperoning and nucleosome assembly. While functional NAP1L proteins assist in the deposition and organization of histones during chromatin remodeling, NAP1L6P lacks protein-coding capacity. However, pseudogenes such as NAP1L6P can play regulatory roles by acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or decoys for microRNAs, thereby modulating the expression of related functional genes. This pseudogene may influence chromatin dynamics indirectly and could have implications in transcriptional regulation under specific conditions. Though its exact biological role is not fully understood, further research may uncover its relevance in epigenetic regulation, chromatin organization, or gene expression control.
