Descripción

PHF24 is a PHD finger-containing protein involved in the recognition of histone modifications, particularly methylated lysines, to regulate transcriptional repression and activation. It functions as part of chromatin remodeling complexes, where it controls gene expression by altering nucleosome positioning and accessibility. PHF24 plays roles in processes such as DNA repair, cell cycle regulation, and differentiation, particularly in tissues undergoing active development or stress responses. It is expressed in proliferative tissues, including embryonic and immune cells, where it fine-tunes transcriptional programs for cell growth and lineage specification. Dysregulation of PHF24 has been associated with developmental defects and cancer, where its altered activity affects chromatin remodeling and transcriptional fidelity. Knockdown studies reveal impaired chromatin accessibility, reduced transcriptional activation, and disrupted DNA repair processes, highlighting its essential role in epigenetic regulation and genome maintenance.
