Descripción
Papilin, proteoglycan-like sulfated glycoprotein (PAPLN) is an extracellular matrix protein known for its multifaceted roles in tissue remodeling, development, and extracellular signaling. Its structure, rich in proteoglycan-like domains, allows it to interact with other matrix proteins, enzymes, and cell surface receptors, thereby influencing processes such as cell adhesion, migration, and differentiation. Papilin is highly expressed during embryogenesis, contributing to the formation and maintenance of tissues and organs. Aberrations in PAPLN expression or function have been associated with connective tissue abnormalities and may influence cancer cell invasion, highlighting its importance in both normal development and pathological conditions.
