Descripción
P2RY11 is a G protein-coupled receptor activated by extracellular ATP and adenosine diphosphate (ADP). Unlike other P2Y receptors, P2RY11 couples to both Gs and Gq proteins, allowing it to stimulate adenylate cyclase and phospholipase C (PLC), increasing cAMP and calcium levels, respectively. P2RY11 is widely expressed in immune cells, including leukocytes, as well as in the heart and central nervous system, where it modulates inflammation, immune responses, and energy metabolism. P2RY11 regulates chemotaxis, immune cell activation, and cytokine secretion, playing an essential role in inflammatory and immune-mediated diseases. It also contributes to cellular energy balance through its regulation of cAMP. Dysregulation of P2RY11 has been linked to autoimmune disorders, cardiac dysfunction, and inflammatory conditions. Targeting P2RY11 has potential therapeutic implications in immune modulation, cardiovascular diseases, and conditions associated with ATP-mediated inflammation.
