Background
Nucleoporin 62 (NUP62) is an essential member of the nuclear pore complex, playing a pivotal role in the selective transport of macromolecules across the nuclear envelope It facilitates the movement of RNA, proteins, and other molecules between the nucleus and cytoplasm, contributing to essential processes such as transcription, DNA replication, and cell cycle regulation NUP62 works in tandem with other nucleoporins to form the nuclear pore, allowing for controlled molecular trafficking essential for maintaining cellular function It interacts with various transport factors to regulate the export of RNA and ribosomal subunits to the cytoplasm, a key step in protein synthesis Dysregulation of NUP62 has been linked to numerous diseases, including cancers, where disruptions in nucleocytoplasmic transport lead to mislocalization of critical regulatory proteins, contributing to uncontrolled cell growth and survival Additionally, NUP62 is involved in cellular stress responses and repair mechanisms, emphasizing its role in tissue homeostasis and cell survival under adverse conditions The importance of NUP62 in gene regulation, protein synthesis, and cellular stress management highlights its central role in maintaining proper cellular function and tissue integrity
