Note | The validity for this kit is 6 months. This product is for research use only. The range and sensitivity is subject to change. Please contact us for the latest product information. For accurate results, sample concentrations must be diluted to mid-range of the kit. If you require a specific range, please contact us in advance or write your request in your order comments. Please note that our ELISA and CLIA kits are optimised for detection of native samples, rather than recombinant proteins. We are unable to guarantee detection of recombinant proteins, as they may have different sequences or tertiary structures to the native protein. |
Descripción
Microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP2) is a protein primarily found in neurons, where it plays a crucial role in stabilizing microtubules, maintaining cell shape, and supporting dendritic development MAP2 is part of a family of microtubule-associated proteins that bind to microtubules and regulate their stability, thereby contributing to the structural integrity of the cytoskeleton In neurons, MAP2 is essential for dendritic growth and synaptic plasticity, as it helps organize microtubules that extend into dendritic spines, the sites of synaptic connections and communication Dysregulation or loss of MAP2 function is associated with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and tauopathies, where disrupted microtubule stability leads to impaired neuronal function and neurofibrillary tangles MAP2 also serves as a marker for dendritic structures in neurons and is important for maintaining the organization of the central nervous system during development and in response to injury

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the microtubule-associated protein family. The proteins of this family are thought to be involved in microtubule assembly, which is an essential step in neurogenesis. The products of similar genes in rat and mouse are neuron-specific cytoskeletal proteins that are enriched in dentrites, implicating a role in determining and stabilizing dentritic shape during neuron development. A number of alternatively spliced variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
