This product is for research use only. The range and sensitivity is subject to change. Please contact us for the latest product information. For accurate results, sample concentrations must be diluted to mid-range of the kit. If you require a specific range, please contact us in advance or write your request in your order comments. Please note that our ELISA and CLIA kits are optimised for detection of native samples, rather than recombinant proteins. We are unable to guarantee detection of recombinant proteins, as they may have different sequences or tertiary structures to the native protein.

Descripción

OPN1LW is a type of opsin found in the cone cells of the retina, responsible for detecting long wavelengths of light, typically in the red region of the visible spectrum. It is one of the three opsins that mediate color vision in humans and other primates. OPN1LW is activated by light with wavelengths in the range of approximately 564–580 nm. The receptor works by converting light into an electrical signal that is transmitted to the brain, where it is processed as part of the perception of color. This opsin plays a critical role in the trichromatic vision system, enabling the differentiation of colors in the red portion of the spectrum. Mutations in the OPN1LW gene are associated with red-green color blindness, a condition where individuals have difficulty distinguishing between red and green hues due to the dysfunction of this opsin. Research into OPN1LW has applications in understanding color vision disorders and the development of therapies to treat these conditions.
