LRRC40 is a protein involved in regulating cellular processes such as cytoskeletal organization and intracellular trafficking it is ubiquitously expressed across multiple tissues with notable enrichment in neurons and endothelial cells studies suggest LRRC40 participates in maintaining cellular morphology and signal transduction by interacting with microtubules and actin filaments its role in endosomal and vesicular transport has been proposed based on its interactions with proteins involved in intracellular trafficking pathways LRRC40 has been implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders and vascular abnormalities where its dysregulation may disrupt normal cellular organization further research is needed to clarify its molecular interactions and the signaling pathways it influences its potential therapeutic applications in treating neurovascular and developmental disorders are currently under investigation
