LRRC37A is a gene-rich region located on chromosome 17p12 a hotspot for genomic rearrangements associated with neurological and psychiatric disorders such as Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1A (CMT1A) and autism spectrum disorders studies suggest that LRRC37A is involved in cellular adhesion and signaling processes especially in neural tissues where it may influence synaptic plasticity and connectivity its expression patterns indicate a role in maintaining the structural integrity of neural networks and promoting efficient signal transmission within the central nervous system LRRC37A has also been associated with cancer progression where its potential role in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and metastasis is being explored ongoing research is focused on characterizing its involvement in neurodevelopmental disorders and identifying therapeutic strategies targeting its functional domains further experimental validation is needed to confirm its specific cellular mechanisms and interactions
