Human Kallistatin (SERPINA4) ELISA Kit is an ELISA Kit for the in vitro quantitative measurement of Human Kallistatin (SERPINA4) concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids. This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Kallistatin (KAL)No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Kallistatin (KAL) and analogues was observed.
Background
Inhibitory serpins have been shown to function in processes as diverse as DNA binding, chromatin condensation, immunoregulation ,apoptosis and haemostasis. Serpins are a broadly distributed protease inhibitors that use the conformational change as a mechanism of action. They are central in controlling many important proteolytic cascades. Phylogenetically Serpins superfamily organized in "Clades", named by letters. The following numbers shows the position in the glade. Serpin named as a SERPINXy, (where X is the clade and y is the number within that clade) many serpins also have alternative names from before this classification was proposed. Structuraly Serpinsare three β-sheets (A, B and C), 8-9 α-helices (termed hA-hI) and the reactive center known as reactive center loop (RCL). Kallistatin (SERPINA4) is a serine proteinase inhibitor and a heparin-binding protein. It is primarily found in vascular smooth muscle cells and endothelial cells within blood vessels, indicating its potential role in regulating vascular function.

Las serpinas son inhibidores de proteasas ampliamente distribuidos que utilizan el cambio conformacional como mecanismo de acción.
