Descripción
IGSF23 is a less characterized member of the immunoglobulin superfamily but is believed to be involved in cell adhesion and cell signaling. It is expressed in both neural and epithelial tissues, suggesting roles in tissue organization and development. Structurally, IGSF23 contains Ig-like domains that mediate interactions with other cell surface molecules, influencing cellular communication and structural stability. Its potential role in neurodevelopment and epithelial integrity is an area of ongoing research. Dysregulation of IGSF23 may be implicated in certain developmental disorders and cancers, though further studies are needed.
