DDB1 and CUL4 associated factor 8 like 1 (DCAF8L1) is a paralog of DCAF8, sharing significant structural similarity through its WD40 repeats, which mediate interactions with the CUL4-DDB1 complex and potential substrates. While its specific biological roles are not well-characterized, DCAF8L1 is presumed to contribute to ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation, similar to other members of the DCAF family. It is expressed across multiple tissues, suggesting a general role in maintaining protein homeostasis. Functional studies are required to identify its specific targets and understand its involvement in cellular regulation.
