Descripción
DDB1 and CUL4 associated factor 4 like 2 (DCAF4L2) is a paralog of DCAF4 and functions as a substrate receptor within the CUL4-DDB1 E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. DCAF4L2, like other members of the WD40 protein family, contains WD40 repeat domains that facilitate substrate recognition and protein-protein interactions, enabling it to mediate the ubiquitination and degradation of specific target proteins. While the precise functions and substrate targets of DCAF4L2 remain under investigation, its expression pattern suggests it may play specialized roles in specific tissues or cellular pathways. It is believed to contribute to cellular homeostasis by regulating the turnover of proteins involved in transcription, cell cycle control, and DNA repair. Further research is needed to fully elucidate its functions, but its potential involvement in proteostasis and signaling pathways highlights its significance in both normal cellular function and pathological conditions.
