Descripción
DDB1 and CUL4 associated factor 11 (DCAF11), also known as WD repeat-containing protein 23 (WDR23), serves as a substrate receptor within the CUL4-DDB1 E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. It contains multiple WD40 repeats that facilitate its role in protein-protein interactions and substrate recognition. DCAF11 is involved in the regulation of various cellular processes, including protein degradation and response to oxidative stress. Studies in model organisms, such as Caenorhabditis elegans, have demonstrated that DCAF11 regulates the nuclear abundance and activity of SKN-1, a transcription factor involved in oxidative stress responses. Additionally, DCAF11 has been implicated in the regulation of microRNA biogenesis and may play a role in modulating the activity of specific transcription factors. Its expression is observed in various tissues, suggesting a broad functional significance. Further research is needed to fully elucidate the range of substrates targeted by DCAF11 and its roles in human health and disease.
