Descripción
ANO9, also known as TMEM16J, is a member of the anoctamin family that functions in calcium-activated chloride transport and phospholipid scrambling. ANO9 is expressed in tissues such as the gastrointestinal tract and the nervous system, where it may regulate epithelial ion transport, membrane repair, and cell signaling. ANO9 has also been implicated in tumorigenesis, where its dysregulation promotes cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in cancers such as colorectal and pancreatic cancers. Its role in maintaining chloride ion balance and contributing to epithelial integrity makes ANO9 significant for processes like mucus secretion and ion homeostasis. Its emerging role as a regulator of cancer progression highlights its importance in disease pathology.
