Human Angiopoietin-Related Protein 2 (ANGPTL2) Protein

Background

ANGPTL2 is a secreted glycoprotein that belongs to the angiopoietin-like (ANGPTL) protein family and plays critical roles in inflammation, angiogenesis, and tissue remodeling. ANGPTL2 promotes endothelial cell activation, migration, and vascular permeability, facilitating angiogenesis during wound healing and tissue repair. However, persistent overexpression of ANGPTL2 leads to chronic inflammation and tissue damage, contributing to the development of metabolic disorders, such as obesity and insulin resistance, as well as cardiovascular diseases. ANGPTL2 also enhances cancer progression by promoting tumor angiogenesis, metastasis, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT).
