This product is for research use only. The range and sensitivity is subject to change. Please contact us for the latest product information. For accurate results, sample concentrations must be diluted to mid-range of the kit. If you require a specific range, please contact us in advance or write your request in your order comments. Please note that our ELISA and CLIA kits are optimised for detection of native samples, rather than recombinant proteins. We are unable to guarantee detection of recombinant proteins, as they may have different sequences or tertiary structures to the native protein.

Descripción

Alkaline phosphatase, germ cell (ALPG), is an isoenzyme of alkaline phosphatase predominantly expressed in germ cells. It plays a crucial role in dephosphorylation processes, which are vital for metabolic pathways and cellular signaling. ALPG is part of a family of enzymes known for their ability to remove phosphate groups from molecules such as nucleotides, proteins, and alkaloids in an alkaline environment. ALPG is notably expressed in certain tissues, including the testes and germ cells, where it contributes to the regulation of phosphate metabolism and possibly supports spermatogenesis and other germ-cell-specific functions. Due to its unique tissue-specific expression, ALPG serves as a biomarker in various clinical contexts, such as diagnosing germ cell tumors or studying germ cell biology. Understanding its regulatory mechanisms and interactions provides insights into developmental and reproductive processes.

There are at least four distinct but related alkaline phosphatases: intestinal, placental, placental-like, and liver/bone/kidney (tissue non-specific). The product of this gene is a membrane bound glycosylated enzyme, localized to testis, thymus and certain germ cell tumors, that is closely related to both the placental and intestinal forms of alkaline phosphatase.
