Note | Validity: The validity for this kit is 6 months. This product is for research use only. The range and sensitivity is subject to change. Please contact us for the latest product information. For accurate results, sample concentrations must be diluted to mid-range of the kit. If you require a specific range, please contact us in advance or write your request in your order comments. Please note that our ELISA and CLIA kits are optimised for detection of native samples, rather than recombinant proteins. We are unable to guarantee detection of recombinant proteins, as they may have different sequences or tertiary structures to the native protein. |
Descripción
AKR1B15 is a recently identified member of the aldo-keto reductase family that shares high sequence similarity with AKR1B10. It exhibits carbonyl-reducing activity and is involved in detoxifying lipid peroxidation products and reactive aldehydes, protecting cells from oxidative stress. AKR1B15 is primarily expressed in metabolic tissues, including the liver and lungs, and has a role in maintaining redox homeostasis. It also participates in the metabolism of steroids, retinoids, and other endogenous substrates, influencing cell signaling and energy metabolism. AKR1B15’s overexpression has been observed in cancers, where it promotes chemoresistance and tumor progression by reducing oxidative stress and supporting lipid biosynthesis. Its functional overlap with AKR1B10 suggests redundant but complementary roles in cellular detoxification and metabolic regulation. Emerging studies suggest AKR1B15 as a potential target in cancer therapy, particularly for overcoming chemoresistance and disrupting metabolic adaptation in tumor cells.
