Descripción

AK1 is a cytosolic enzyme that plays a critical role in cellular energy homeostasis by catalyzing the reversible transfer of a phosphate group between ADP molecules to form ATP and AMP. Highly expressed in skeletal and cardiac muscle, AK1 facilitates rapid ATP turnover, essential for high-energy-consuming tissues. AK1 mutations are associated with myopathies, hemolytic anemia, and impaired energy metabolism. Its function is critical in maintaining the ATP/ADP ratio during stress and exercise, supporting glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation. AK1 is also involved in signaling pathways related to cellular stress responses and proliferation. Studies have shown its role in modulating metabolic responses during hypoxia.

AK1 antibody

This gene encodes an adenylate kinase enzyme involved in energy metabolism and homeostasis of cellular adenine nucleotide ratios in different intracellular compartments. This gene is highly expressed in skeletal muscle, brain and erythrocytes. Certain mutations in this gene resulting in a functionally inadequate enzyme are associated with a rare genetic disorder causing nonspherocytic hemolytic anemia. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.

Adenylate Kinase 1 (AK1) Antibody

AK1 Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody against AK1. Adenylate kinase is an enzyme involved in regulating the adenine nucleotide composition within a cell by catalyzing the reversible transfer of phosphate group among adinine nucleotides. Three isozymes of adenylate kinase have been identified in vertebrates, adenylate isozyme 1 (AK1), 2 (AK2) and 3 (AK3). AK1 is found in the cytosol of skeletal muscle, brain and erythrocytes, whereas AK2 and AK3 are found in the mitochondria of other tissues including liver and heart. AK1 was identified because of its association with a rare genetic disorder causing nonspherocytic hemolytic anemia where a mutation in the AK1 gene was found to reduce the catalytic activity of the enzyme.
