Background

ADCY3 is a key effector enzyme involved in the production of cAMP and is localized predominantly in the olfactory epithelium and brain regions. It mediates odorant signaling in olfactory sensory neurons, playing a critical role in the sense of smell. ADCY3 is activated by G-proteins and modulated by calcium ions.
