Descripción
ADAMTSL5 is an extracellular protein that regulates ECM structure and fibrillin microfibril assembly. It is particularly notable for its involvement in cartilage biology and has been identified as a key factor in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis. ADAMTSL5 interacts with cartilage ECM components such as aggrecan and modulates TGF-β signaling pathways, which influence cartilage homeostasis. Studies have shown that ADAMTSL5 expression increases in osteoarthritic cartilage, suggesting its role in disease progression.
