Background

ACTR3C is a less-characterized actin-related protein closely related to ACTR3. It is hypothesized to function in alternative ARP2/3-like complexes that regulate specialized cytoskeletal dynamics. ACTR3C has restricted expression patterns in certain tissues, including neurons and germ cells, hinting at specialized roles in development and differentiation. While structurally homologous to ACTR3, ACTR3C may interact with unique regulatory proteins to modulate actin remodeling. Research is ongoing to elucidate its precise biological functions and role in disease.
