Descripción
Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 gamma (HNF4G) is another member of the HNF4 family of nuclear receptors, playing a role in regulating the development of the liver and intestines HNF4G, like its alpha counterpart, regulates the expression of genes involved in metabolism, including those associated with fatty acid and cholesterol metabolism HNF4G has distinct roles in regulating the differentiation of various cell types, particularly in the intestines, where it influences the development of enterocytes and the function of the gastrointestinal tract It also participates in regulating energy homeostasis by controlling the expression of genes involved in nutrient absorption and cellular metabolism Dysregulation of HNF4G has been linked to gastrointestinal diseases, liver dysfunction, and certain types of cancer, especially in tissues where its expression influences cell proliferation and differentiation HNF4G's involvement in cellular differentiation and metabolic regulation underscores its importance in maintaining normal physiological processes and preventing diseases like liver cancer, inflammatory bowel diseases, and metabolic disorders
