Description
HSPA8 Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody against HSPA8. This gene encodes a member of the heat shock protein 70 family, which contains both heat-inducible and constitutively expressed members. This protein belongs to the latter group, which are also referred to as heat-shock cognate proteins. It functions as a chaperone, and binds to nascent polypeptides to facilitate correct folding. It also functions as an ATPase in the disassembly of clathrin-coated vesicles during transport of membrane components through the cell. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

HSPA8 (also known as HSC70) is a member of the HSPA (HSP70) family of heat-shock proteins which are highly conserved chaperons implicated in protein folding, protein refolding, protein transport, and protein targeting. HSPA8 is a constitutively expressed cytosol/nuclear protein able to translocate between cytoplasm and nucleus. Recently it has been reported that HSPA8 can interact with α-synuclein, the critical pathological protein of Parkinson’s disease, indicating its implication in neurodegenerative disease. (21832061)
